SHOTLearning

Free courses. Every sport. Every level.

You got the badge.
Now learn the season.

Every coach does something once: a Level 1 course, a governing-body badge, an induction evening. Then you are expected to keep developing the people in front of you, season after season, with no framework for how. SHOT Learning is that framework, whether you coach an international squad or a Sunday morning team, children or adults.

What this is

A season of development,
in one free course.

Around four to five hours, at your own pace. One course for your sport and the level you actually coach, built on the PERFORM curriculum.

01

Understand the curriculum

Thirteen four-week blocks across five pillars, so you know what a full season should cover instead of planning one session at a time.

02

Practise the decisions

Work through real questions from your own sport's framework and choose the next step, using the same judgement you use on the grass.

03

Leave with a plan

Finish with a three-block, 12-week development plan for your own group, ready to extend across the season.

04

Keep a record

Save a completion certificate naming your sport, pathway and date. It records self-directed learning, not an accredited qualification.

Why they backed it

The people who
know the game.

Elite players grow up with structure, feedback and a record of their development. SHOT puts the same tools in every coach's hands.

Anton Ferdinand, SHOT Icon Ambassador. “Football has given me more than I can put into words. The opportunities, the friendships, the chance to make a real impact, on and off the pitch. SHOT Clubhouse is about more than sport. It’s about using the game to create real change, in our communities, and around the world. That’s something I’m proud to put my name to.”
Jack Hinshelwood, Brighton & Hove Albion, SHOT Founding Ambassador. “I came up through the academy system, so I know exactly how much the right coaching and feedback matters, and how few people ever get near it. SHOT is putting those same tools in everyone’s hands. That’s why I’m in, not just as a name, but as part of it.”

Why confidence belongs in the conversation

The same skill.
A different starting point.

Someone may show a skill in practice and feel unable to try it under pressure. Someone else may feel ready and still need help with the technique. Ask, observe and choose the support together.

FIRST EXPERIENCES

“I’ll have a go.”

Help a child feel welcome, try again and recognise a small success. Listening, taking turns and caring for their equipment matter alongside learning the sport.

GROWING OWNERSHIP

“I know what I’m working on.”

Help the athlete connect their intentions with what happened. A specific question, an honest reflection and a shared next step give them a voice in their development.

PERFORMANCE & PURPOSE

“I can explain my next step.”

At higher performance levels, add precision, consistency and pressure. For adult recreation, protect enjoyment and sustainable participation. Confidence matters in both.

PERFORM gives the season a shared structure. You bring the coaching judgement, the relationship and the understanding of each person.

The PERFORM approach

Ask. Notice. Understand.
Choose what comes next.

Confidence is personal. A good question helps you see what a result alone can’t tell you.
01 / PREPARE

How do you feel about trying?

Hear the athlete’s starting point. Find out what would help them take part with confidence.

02 / REFLECT

What did you learn about yourself?

Give them room to describe the experience. Listen for what changed and what still feels difficult.

03 / FEEDBACK

What did you notice?

Add a specific observation. Make progress visible in the skill, the choices and the person.

04 / NEXT STEP

What will you try together?

Choose one manageable action. Return to it, offer support and build from the person’s own starting point.

Prepare, Reflect and Feedback are short touchpoints between the athlete and the coach. Use whichever parts help you decide what happens next. The context-driven next step turns that conversation into action.

A season with purpose

Develop the skill.
See the whole person.

Explore technical, psychological, social, physical and personal development through 13 four-week blocks. Use the curriculum alongside your usual sessions and adapt the calendar to your season.

PERFORM brings sport-specific coaching guidance into a curriculum you can return to throughout the year. The five pillars stay consistent; the questions, focus areas and next steps change with your sport and pathway.

Practise with real framework questions, make coaching decisions and leave with a 12-week plan you can use.
